4 and 5 Months

Jackson is now five months old. That's right, five months. Time has flown by so fast! We have enjoyed every minute of Jackson being in our lives. He brings us so much joy and we can't imagine life without him.  I wasn't able to do a four month post so I thought I would catch up with a four and five month post.

FOUR MONTHS:

This is Jackson the day he turned 4 months old Aug. 19, 2012
At four moths old Jackson is 24.75 inches tall and weighs in at 15lbs 15oz.  Yes he is a big boy who loves his food lol.  He is now eating rice cereal and although he was a little iffy about it the first try, he loves it!  I can hardly feed it to him fast enough.

Jackson is also holding his head up so good now.  He loves it because he can look around when he is on his tummy and he can see his toys.  He still doesn't like tummy time, but this does seem to make it more barable for him.

Speaking of his toys, Jackson is starting to learn to play with them a little bit.  He mostly just tries to put them in his mouth.  Infact he tries to stick everything is his mouth that he can get a hold of. He will even chew on your arm when you are holding him.
Jackson rolled over for the first time on August 19th, the day he turned four months old.  He looked up at us with a little fear and a lot of confusion and has not even tried to do it again.  I know that once kids become mobile it is harder to keep track of them, but he is getting so restless that I hope he starts rolling over soon.

FIVE MONTHS:

Jackson is now five months old. Holy cow! It is so crazy to think that he has already been here five whole months, and yet we cannot even remember life without him.  He is the most amazing boy and brings us so much joy. It is so fun to watch him as he learns and grows and discovers new things. He has been doing a lot of this discovering lately.  He is becoming much more coordinated and is putting everything into his mouth.  He even grabs the spoon from me while I am feeding him his cereal and he shoves it in his mouth and will not let go.  He gets mad at me when I finally take it back from him. He loves his pacifier, but not really to calm him down or pacify him, he plays with it just like a toy.  Whenever we put it in his mouth he takes it out and then tries to figure out how to put it back in on his own.  When he gets it in right I'll tell him good job and say "You did it!" and he smiles so big and gets so proud of himself.  I think he is beginning to discover his voice because he has started yelling in this really high pitch tone and once he gets started he keeps it up for a while.  He has found his ears and likes to play with them while we feed him.  My favorite thing that he has started doing though is giggling.  I have never heard such a wonderful sound in my life! He has the most adorable smile and now he has added the most adorable giggle to it.

I don"t have any video of Jackson actually rolling over because of course he never rolls over when I am trying to record it, but he is starting to learn how to roll over from his back to his stomach.  He has done it a couple of times, but doesn't quite have the hang of it yet.  I am sure he will soon though!

Jackson loves his changing pad.  Whenever we lay him down to change his diaper he starts kicking his legs like crazy.  He puts his arms down to his side and puffs his chest and sticks out his lips and just kicks.  It is so funny and so cute.  He does it even more when he is naked.  After his bath we will put him there to dress him and put his diaper on and he goes crazy! we always let him do it for a couple minutes before getting him dressed.

We went to Utah the first week of September and it was a lot of fun. Jackson loved his cousin Lily and she was so excited to see Jackson again.  She love helping me with Jackson and she loves to be as close to him as physically possible. This meant that we had to keep a very careful eye on the two of them, but it was so cute. She gave him lots of kisses and loved when she got to hold him. It will be so much fun when he is old enough to play with his cousins.

Jackson loves the remote and anything else that he sees mommy and daddy using. Our baby is growing up so fast. He is such a joy to be around and we love every second that we get to spend with him! We love you Jackson.

3 Months Old

It's official, Jackson made it to 3 months old.  We cannot believe how fast the time has gone.  He is growing so much and getting bigger every day.  At his two month appointment, which was actually when he was two and a half months old, he wiegh 13lbs 5oz and was 23.5 in tall.  He is in the 75th percentile for height, weight, and head size.  He is getting pretty good at holding his head up during tummy time and he is loving being able to sit up (with assistance from us or the bumbo).  Infact he is getting a little restless laying on the floor.  He just wants to be able to run around and play.  He has also discovered his fist and sucks on it all the time.  He also drools a ton! I think one of our favorite things to happen this past month is that Jackson has officially begun sleeping through the night!  He is such a fun amazing boy and we are so blessed to be his parents.  We love him so much <3

 Holding his head up

He loves sitting all by himself.

He has discovered his fist and loves sucking on it.

He loves that he can hold this ball all by himself.  He tries to put it in his mouth and gets upset that it won't fit. It is pretty funny.

Happy Fourth of July!

We went to Fallon for the 4th of July and it was a lot of fun. We got to see a lot of our family that we haven't seen in a while and Jackson got to meet a lot of new people. We spent the first three days at Lake Lahontan and although it was really fun it was so nice to relax on Saturday. Needless to say we had a great time, but were glad to come home.

Jackson and Kinzie love each other!
Jackson loved his great grandmas!

Jackson was so happy to get out of his carseat and be home!

Jackson is 2 months old!

People say that time goes by so fast and your little ones grow up so fast, but you never realize how true it is until you have one of your own!  Our little guys is two months old already and we can't believe it.  He is getting so big and so strong and even a little chunky, which I never really thought would happen.  He is starting to get pretty good at holding up his head especially when he is sitting up (with assistance from mom and dad).  He is starting to grab things and let me tell you this kid has got quite the grip.  He pulls out chunks of mom's hair everyday.  He is also becoming a chatter box.  He tells his mom and dad stories all the time.  And my favorite thing is that he is starting to smile when we talk to him!  He has the most adorable smile and it is so fun to know that he is seeing and hearing us.  He has started sleeping pretty well at night and we are soooo grateful for that.  We are sleeping him on his stomach which we know is frowned upon, but he is so much happier and so are we!

Here is a video of Jackson telling mom and dad a story :)

Jackson's Baby Blessing

On June 3, 2012 we had the opportunity to give our sweet baby boy a blessing.  We were lucky enough to have a lot of our family here to join in celebrating this occasion. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it and we really missed those that weren't. We had a really fun time relaxing and enjoying everyones company on Saturday and then on Sunday we blessed Jackson.  He was exhausted from Saturday so he slept like an angel through the blessing and lunch afterward.  His dad did such a wonderful job on the blessing.  I am so grateful that I have such an amazing husband who is a worthy priesthood holder and who could give Jackson this blessing.  Jackson is a lucky boy to have such a wonderful dad who is such a great example to him and who will teach him to be such a great man.  I just love them both so much!  We are so grateful to have Jackson in our lives and will cherrish every moment we have with him.  Here are some of the pictures from the blessing.

He is such a sweet and handsome boy!

Okay so I am still very far behind because Jackson is almost five weeks old, but my amazing neighbor Cindy Steel is a photographer and she took some adorable 2 week pictures of Jackson for us.  They turned out great and I am so excited that we will have these wonderful memories to look back on. Especially because he has already changed sooo much! We just love Jackson more than anything in the world and are so happy to have him in our lives <3 Oh and just a side note, we went in for Jackson's 2 week appointment and he weighed 8lbs 9oz and was 21 1/2 inches long!

Jackson Kal Schank has finally arrived!

Okay so this is very long overdue considering Jacksin is almost 4 weeks old, but I feel pretty proud of the fact that I am getting to it at all.  So here is the story.  My due date was April 21st, but on april 19th Jackson decided it was time to get out of there. And I am thankful he did! My water broke at about 1:30 pm and it just happened to break right as Kal walked in the door for lunch and right when I was going to the bathroom.  I know this is a little too much information, but it was great because there was no mess and it was perfect timing.  I was pretty worried about knowing when I was in labor and when to go to the hospital, but since I was one of those lucky 10% whose water broke I did not have to worry about that.  I hadn't really been having many contractions that morning so I wasn't really prepared.  When my water broke I had to finish packing my hospital bag and Kal had to pack his stuff too.  We got to the hospital around 2 and they determined that yes, my water had broken and I would be having Jackson within the next 24 hours.  They said that we should expect to wait about 2 hours for every cm and I was only at 1.5 cm.  We thought we were in for a very long night!  But, Jackson had a different plan and it only took4 hours to go from 1.5 cm to 10cm.  Unfortunately Jacksons heart rate kept dropping because I dialated so quickly and they had to get him out very fast.  So as soon as I hit a 10 they started vaccuming and I only pushed for 10 minutes.  And finally at 6:41pm Jackson Kal Schank had arrived!  He weighed 7lbs 12oz and was 19.5 inches long (Although at his 2 week check up he was 21.5 inches long, so it is more likely that this was his length at birth).  He is absolutley perfect and we are so in love! He already has us wrapped around his perfect little fingers.  We love you Jackson and are so happy to have you in our lives!
Oh and just a little shout out to daddy. He was so wonderful and helped me so much! I was honestly worried that he might pass out or something, but he was a pro! He cut the cord and everything and didn't even blink. Thank you for all the love and support babe. I couldn't have done this without you!

It has been 7 weeks already since I last posted and you can definitely see it on my belly!  I am 39 weeks and 2 days today! Hopefully this means our little guys will be here any day now.  I have been having contractions, but that has been going on for like 2 weeks so who knows if they actually mean anything or not.  Because it has been so lon since I posted I never got a chance to thank everyone for the wonderful babyshowers and the gifts! We really appreciate it all so much.  Well, we are definitely getting anxious and excited and we can't wait to meet our baby boy.  We already love him so much and we just know he will be the perfect addition to our family.

So I am 32 1/2 weeks pregnant and I feel huge (my belly anyway)! We had a doctors appointment last week and the doctor said that our little guy is smaller than average, but he is still in the healthy range.  We are very glad that he is healthy, but we had to laugh at this because I feel soooo big, so when the doctor said that he is smaller than average all I could think is "how the heck can that be?".  Anyway, the doctor said that everything seems to be going well and that if I carry him to full term he will probably be about 7lbs.  This is news I was very glad to hear because I keep imagining this 10lb baby and how there is just no way I could deliver him.  7lbs however, seems much more reasonable!
I can't believe how fast the time has gone by with this pregnancy.  This morning Kal asked me if I had realized that since today was March 1st we could now say we are having a baby next month.  I hadn't realized that! It is getting so close and we are getting very excited for the arrival of our baby boy!
